Program Notes
Redlands Symphony wanted a piece to honor their retiring conductor, Jon Robertson, as he concluded 33 years of service. They asked for a kind of benediction with which the audience could easily sing along using only a lead sheet in the program. And to keep it a surprise from Jon, it could only receive 15 minutes of rehearsal while he was distracted by some board members.
The result was this simple but satisfying anthem.
